Students represent Marlboro Electric
Two students representing Marlboro Electric Cooperative on a trip of a lifetime to the nation’s capital in June came back with lots of photos and special memories.
Andrew Fitzgibbon and Melody McColl were among 46 South Carolina rising high school seniors on Youth Tour 2010, a six-day trip to Washington, D.C., sponsored by their local electric cooperatives. Fitzgibbon is a student at Dillon Christian School and Melody McColl attends Marlboro County High School.
“My favorite part of the Youth Tour was the Washington Monument,” said Fitzgibbon, son of Timothy and Julie Fitzgibbon of Dillon. “The museums and the wealth of history in Washington are amazing!”
“All of the history was breathtaking,” said McColl, daughter of Wayne and Patti McColl of Clio. “The places that touched me the most were the National Archives, the Pentagon Memorial, and the Holocaust Museum. These places gave me insight on what many people went through to make our nation what it is today.”
